Boots 3 for 2 and Christmas nights question

Hi,

I know that you get the £12 worth of points when you spend £50 on the Christmas Shopping nights.

What I can't work out is this: If I buy some stuff on a 3 for 2, do the 2 I pay for have to come to £50, or does it count if the three things would have added up to £50?

e.g. I want A at £20, B at £20 and C at £10. This adds up to £50, but only actually costs me £40, am i still eligible for the points worth £12?

I've confused myself.
Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

You have to actually spend £50 to get the points so the three for two would have to come to £50 once the third item had been taken off the total to get the £12 of points.
