Nothing stopping you ASAP really depending how busy the banks are it could take anything from a few days to a couple of weeks..IF by chance the basic account did end up frozen then the AIB can easily sortCaptain_Obvious wrote: »I should've asked how soon do they freeze accounts ? sadly how longs a bit of string really...once the bank is informed of your bankruptcy then tend to close accounts quite quickly..once you do go bankrupt though unless the OR states no interest in the nationwide account it belongs to the OR...although saying that barclays didnt close my account for nearly 8mnths

Well as you will obviously not be attending the Brighton County Court Captain then i'd say you may as well open an account with the Co-op (or Barclays for that matter) asap.........its only the Brighton OR that has a 'thang' about freezing all accounts (EVEN the BR friendly)

LOL I wonder if Brighton OR reads this forum.....wonder if they know that they are famous for their over-zealous `freezing accounts` tendancies :rotfl:0

Hmm it did seem a little strange that OR's offices started making certain changes to things we discussed here a while ago....
looks like brighton OR's & staff dont lurk!

nationwide wont freeze your account they will just downgrade you to a cash account. They are one of the lenders that accept people that are bankrupt.
I have a nationwide account and will be going for br and have been advised of this by insolvency practioner and someone i know that works for nationwide.
hope this helps0 -

sadly this is not correct....nationwide in the past changed some of their T&C's and now are most definatley NOT bankrupt freindly if they let you keep the account & downgrade then your very lucky...sadly its NO guarantee they would allow everyone the same rights..We all die.
