can i freeze leftover chicken and veg pie, made from leftovers?

hi not sure where to ask this ,
i had my first go at "rubber chicken"
on sat we had a roast dinner,
sunday we was all going to have chicken fried rice, with garlic bread.
but ended up with tea at ma mums, (dh was workin, he had a some chicken and a ub express rice when he got home)
today he had a chicken omlet for his lunch (workin again)
i made a chicken and veg pie with the leftovers (just the chicken, carrots, broc, sweetcorn, runner beans and some cubed pots, all cooked in chicken bisto, just added puff pastry 30 mins befor served).

there is still some left even tho i had seconds ( was nice i thought lol) and i have dished some up for dh when he gets home.

so ma qu is can i freeze whats left, and if so how would i reheat when required,
or am i just going to have some for m supper when kiddies are in bed lol.

also i made stock for the first time not sure what to do with it tho??

i put the chicken bones, 2 onions and 2 carrots in pot to boil (all i had), sievied it and put it in fridge (its like jelly now) was this right, how long can i keep it for and what can i do with it lol.

sorry if this is wrong place

any help would be great.

Personally, i wouldnt refreeze the chicken pie, just have it for your supper.

However, you can freeze the stock and use it for soup when youre ready.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

You really shouldn't reheat the chicken pie a second time if it was made with cooked chicken to start with and has already been reheated once. This could cause food poisoning. I know because I did this with a chicken curry once using leftover cooked chicken and froze the rest the reheated it again. My DH was on the toilet all night and I wasn't popular I can tell you!:o its not worth the risk.

i have made a pie this weekend - and many before that - with cooked chilled (not frozen) chicken meat. i put it in the pie cold so it reheats while the pastry cooks. i then put any left overs of pie in portions in the freezer. i then cook this from frozen when needed. not once have we had food poisoning:confused: i do this with all meats beef, chicken, pork whatever.

my understanding is you dont recook cooked frozen meats if that makes sense? ie dont defrost cooked meat for whatever then freeze again for later cooking.

My understanding is you can do each thing once - so had you froze part of the pie when the chicken was cooked only once would have been OK, but freezing something that has been cooked twice is not a good idea - not sure I'd even want to eat it as you'll have to heat it a 3rd time.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.
  • Could one of you have cold chicken pie for lunch?
