A laurel hedge is good - where ever you cut it, it will grow back (unlike conifers). You can always reshape a laurel in terms of width as well as height. I have a laurel hedge - excellent screening all year round. It can grow very tall as well.0

If you also put in a few hardy perenials youll get a laurel and hardy hedge

You are allowed up to 70 cubic mts on a semi-detached house and that is a big conservatory.If they haven't used up any of their allowances anywhere else then they don't need planning.The other things that would make it come under planning law is if it is near a footpath or highway.As for building regs,it's not needed if the conservatory is seperate from the house by means of a closable door or doors.As long as the guttering is not going over the boundary,then they are ok there too.You do however,have a right to light and privacy.There is nothing to stop you from contacting building control and getting them to do a check,which they are obliged to do if you complain.I know this because one of my nice neighbours complained about my garage and i had a visit from an enforcement officer.I had followed all the correct procedures and he couldn't do a thing.0

As a rough measurement - it is around 320 cm (3.2m) long and a little bit wider (can't say exactly, as can't measure the width) how does that work out in terms of cubic metres???
As I've said, I really don't want to fall out with them. What I don't want is for this to be a potential problem when we come to sell our house (as we probably will do in a couple of years.) Also, I know that we will get used to it, it probably just looks so massive because we're not used to having it there!!20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

try selling your house without building regs permission for a conservatory i think you do need building regs permission people next door did one without it we complained because it was a bllody eyesore but they got it through retro otherwise anyone buying there house would have trouble obtaining a mortgage on the property without building regsBefore you point fingers,make sure your hands are clean !;)0

If the conservatory is the size you say it is then it is well in the permitted allowance providing they haven't used up any of their allowance somewhere else.There are rules and regs for conservatories but they are not very stringent and easy to accomodate.I have built hundreds of them for a reason.It is a cheap and easy way to add a room onto a house.Unless you have very specific reasons for complaint,then i wouldn't fall out with the neighbours over it.0
