Sharp LC-26P55E 26" LCD TV for £479.99 @ Dabs

Seems to be an excellent price
http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Quicklinx=4187&v=2#infoarea

And a decent review of the slightly older model LC26P50E

And yes, I know Dabs isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I've have't had a bad experience with them yet (touch wood).

Plus delivery £491.96 inc vat

Be careful with this. The TV is being sold as HD ready when it isn't. If you look at the specs, it gives the resolution as 960 x 540. That isn't HD Ready. I don't know how they get away with it. Anyone who is interested in the TV should give Dabs a call to check. Good luck.
  • Good price, but I'd rather pay a bit more and have the assurance that if something goes wrong, you've got some way of contacting someone. With dabs, there is only an automated email response service meaning that they can (and do in my experience!) fob you off without having to speak to you.

Sorry about the rant - feel free to move to rant forum!

Iv'e been looking at this TV, but think the model LC-26P70E is a better option, It has built in freeview, PC input and Displays HD in 1080i and 720p.

    Available for £525 delivered here.

The CS may be different at Dabs now or in the near future since BT bought them out.

Luckily i checked on here before i purchused the LC-26P70E from Dabs!

Just so i can check i've changed my mind to this LCD TV now and want to make sure its HDTV ready. Many reviews say it is so seems legit this time rather than the Sharp LCD. Screen Resolution is: 1280 x 768

    Here's a link: http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?QuickLinx=3LD0

After another look around, i found this lcd i'm interested in too:

Check out the Humax LGB26TPVR which is 599 delivered from https://www.martindawes.net. It's got twin Freeview tuners, is HD ready, has a 40gb hard drive and even has a USB connection to archive your recordings when it fills up. It's a serious piece of kit. It's been on the market for over a year now and they've ironed out some software bugs there was with it so you should be OK with a brand new one but beware buying second hand.

Superdrug are selling a 26" Bush LCD widescreen with analogue tuner for 379 in Kingston Upon Thames and if you register with them online you can use a 10% off voucher that you print off yourself bringing it down to about 341.

These are the options I amweighing up for the world cup viewing but I also think I can get a second hand high quality 28" CRT for about 150 on ebay possibly with a freeview tuner but my OH doesn't want a huge box in the lounge.

    Hi Gareth,

The Acer LCD looks the better bet to me. It is HD Ready. The description of the Samsung LCD you have highlighted is a bit confusing.

On the description page it states "All of SAMSUNG's LCD TVs above 23" are High Definition Ready" Well firstly, this LCD is only 23" so what that has to do with this TV I don't know?? Then if you go to the specifications tab it states that it isn't HD Ready and then further down it states that it is HD Ready.

No wonder people get confused. Good luck mate.
