I have started to use Corsodyl Mouth wash twice a day, had anyone out there used this product, i am a bit worried as it says that it may stain your teeth,( has not done so yet) should i stick with it or will a cheaper version do the same job?

I only use alcohol free mouthwash. Wilkinsons do their own brand for 69p per bottle.

I thought Corsodyl was more for gum disease and on advice of dentist. Toothsmith may be able to advise on this one. I think it also says the staining is temporary??? Tastes foul - I do know that!!Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I was advised by my hygienist to use Corsodyl when I had a gum problem but she said not to use it long term and it does stain your teeth after a little while Also you shouldn't use it straight after using toothpaste as it loses its effectiveness - she advised me to brush my teeth straight after evening meal then use mouthwash before bedtime.
Hope this helpsNice to save.0 -
I think you should only use Corsodyl for a specific problem, as advised by your dentist or hygienist, and then usually only for 2 weeks. It does stain, but can be removed by a good old scale and polish!
My dentist says that alcohol free rinses are best for everyday use, and I use Retardex, which although it is expensive is wonderful, and stops you breathing garlic fumes over everyone, if like me, you like hot and spicy food! My glass is half full :beer:0 -
Yes I would reiterate what has already been said. I would not use corsodyl unless advised to do so by your dentist or hygenist. It can cause staining of the teeth or tongue but this is minimised by using at a alternate time to brushing. (Any staining is simply removed by a scale and polish as posted above, it does not permanently stain.) This also maximises the benefit of both the toothpaste and the mouthwash so leave at least half an hour between both. Short term use is best as it is an adjunct to treatment not a replacement for manual plaque removal.0

Make your own put some sea salt crystals in a bottle and add water keep shaking or let dissolve so/until there is always a visible layer of salt at the bottom, this is saturated sea water use it as a mouthwash, best I have found and no nasty chemicals.Dentists recommend rinsing your mouth with salt water if you havegum probs.Try it a night your mouth will be fresh in the morning!.Also brush with plain Bicarb of soda couple of times a week. Are U getting enough Vitamin D in your life!?0

My periodentist only recommended Cordodyl for the first stages of treatment. Now she recommends Colgate Peroxyl0
