Bank Account - Lloyds TSB news for existing account holders going through bankruptcy

Thanks for this information. I also had a dormant Lloyds TSB account prior to BR. I didn't owe Lloyds anything but included the account on the BR forms. The OR told me to contact Lloyds to advise them to close the account, which I did, and he also wrote to them.
I wrote and phoned Lloyds, who responded by telling me to just leave it and if I chose not to use it, then eventually it would be closed automatically. I don't know how long they wait but since it had previously been dormant for over two years, it's clearly a long time.
I went BR in March 2009, which is when I initially contacted Lloyds. The OR wrote in early April. I received an early discharge in September 2009 and checked the Lloyds account last week. To my surprise, it was still open. I transferred £50 over and then used the VISA debit card at Tesco's 'pay at the pump' and hey presto, it was accepted.
I've been advised that there may just be a delay in Lloyds getting around to closing the account but the other posts have now given me a little more hope.
I have the Classic account, which comes with a VISA debit card, cheque book and overdraft (in theory). I actually cancelled the overdraft facility prior to BR and have no intention of applying for another one (once bitten, etc.)
If there are any further developments, I will post an update but for the moment, everything appears to be fine.0 -
