Hello I have placed an order with a company in the USA and Comexia the International shipping company they use have contacted me asking for me to send a photocopy of the front and back of my credit card and also to send through a copy of some photo id - I guess by Drivers Licence. Is this normal procedure?? I am new to buying direct from overseas and could do with some advice!

I've had some CDs from there in the past (was a few years ago though) and didnt need to do anything.
Sounds dodgy to me but what are you buying? Could it be for some sort of American anti-money laundering policy or similar? The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
I am buying make up about £300 worth. So I was just wondering if it was their security precautions, I have already processed my credit card details when placing the order, wonder if it is something to do with customs or maybe they need this info for when the goods are delivered.......?0

I agree with Jessica, it sounds dodgy. I certainly wouldn't be keen on sending a photograph of my credit card to anyone. On the other hand, if you really want to order from this company why not contact your credit card company to see if this is a normal/legitimate procedure.

I used comexia to buy from drugstore.com, nothing arrived and it took 4 months to get a refund. Drugstore.com said I had to contact comexia, comexia ignored my emails and phone calls. I had to go through my credit card company in the end0

It seems to be their SOP
"Comerxia strives toward on-line credit card security and giving its users the largest array of payment options available. Protecting the user´s credit card integrity is of utmost importance. To minimize the risks associated with card-not-present transactions, Comerxia may require its users to:
Present the copies of the original credit card and photo ID
Sign a release form when retrieving the package"
I have done something similar when buying airline tickets, and I honestly don't think it's particularly unsafe. After all, they have your name, address card details anyway. However from the previous poster's experience they seem a trifle incompetant, even if they are a reputable company (which I believe they are - partly owned by UPS).0
