Are they American recipes?
I find that American recipes refer to wholewheat flour/bread instead of wholemeal.I've always used wholemeal when I see the word wholewheat.0 -
useful page on flour here http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A2198586
Interestingly, wholemeal may be made from reconstituted bleached flour + bran etc, unless it says stoneground.0 -
thanks Krishna have read the link on flour, that seems to have cleared it up!
thriftylady: the recipes are from ones on the indexed collections on here, so maybe people do have american cookbooks.
wholemeal it is then, thats okay.

When I worked in a bakery we had 2 types of flour for bread, wholewheat which was a heavier loaf and wholemeal. As far as I know the best sort to go for is stoneground if you can get it.Do what you love :happyhear0
