Barclays Cash Card account and br

Hi

I am trying to get a new account. I already have one with the co-op but now I need another account for various reasons. I have been recommened to go with Barclays bank, HOWEVER!, my bankruptcy in July 2009 included a £210 overdraft debt and a £1200 barclaycard debt.

Does anyone have any thoughts about the possibility of me getting an account with barclays with these debts in the bankruptcy. Or does anyone have a barclays account and had debts with barclays?

Any thoughts greatly received.

  • Quite a few people on here managed to get the Barclays account despite Barclays having been one of their creditors at bankruptcy. Note, however, that you will not be permitted to operate it online, unlike the Co-op account.

If the reason for needing another account is not due to a problem with the Co-op, you can apply for a second Cashminder account. Lots of us, including myself, have obtained second accounts.

Alternatively, the Yorkshire Building Society and Abbey (in my case) both offer savings accounts, which can be operated online and come with an ATM card, to undischarged bankrupts.

    Hope this helps.

My ex OH got a Barclays account and he owed them thousands before BR so you shouldn't have a problem.
