No history of UK address/Small mortgage

Looking to buy a house, we can pay probably 80% as a deposit, and will be able to pay off the remainder after an inheritance. We're both in work. The trouble is, having recently returned from living abroad, and looking for a relatively small mortgage, we feel we'll not get a good deal. Any advice re finding a mortgage/ mortgage advisor?

If it is any help, I recently placed a case similar to yourselves with Bank of Scotland.
This sort of thing never used to be a problem with any lender, but these days, if you have just returned to the UK, a lot of lenders use it as an excuse to not to lend to you.
The big deposit should help though.

British couple used to run their own business in Spain.
Had just come back to UK with a big deposit, wanting to buy a house.
A lot of the lenders would not do it until they had been back at least 6 months.
The Bank of Scotland were happy to do it at a reasonable rate. Mind you, lenders change their criteria all the time these days.
These days, a lot of lenders give you a better deal direct than if you go via a broker, so it might be as well you ringing the main lenders direct ( Halifax , Bank of Scotland, Abbey, HSBC etc) to see how they would view it.
They should be able to tell you their lending policy on this without credit scoring you.I am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
