Evening Folks

Well yesterday I finally got the cash for the car
:)

So with that I am going to clear all my debts. I have made all the necessary arrangements to clear them.

It feels good. and I owe it all to 'you lot' if you hadn't hit me over the head and knocked the sense into me, I would never have done it.

***thank you***

I have reviewed my budget several times over the last few weeks, and I feel that I have it as good as I can get it, and that's based on hubby only working one day a week.
:)

We have 6 months before our mortgage goes up, so I have 6 months to work a way of paying an additonal £300 - but I am sure with hubby working by then it will be fine.

I just need a way of remembering that I have a budget and sticking to it. - Any ideas?

Thanks soooo much

  • Thanks, that's inspired me.
I have a pot in the house (i know, i know) where I will be keeping my money instead of using cash cards. I will put it on the top of that.
    Thanks

That's great news GW! Well done!

Hey, we can give advice but can't make someone take it! That's down to you - so give yourself a big pat on the back and a round of applause!

I think keeping tabs on everything is the way to go. Keep spending diary going and update your spend vs. budget. I love seeing a run of No Spend days and I get excited that with any underspend at the end of the month, I have a little treat and/or pay extra off the cc. You could now do that but put into savings instead for that hike in the mortgage.

Hope you'll stay around and post on here still - I've been inspired by your OS ways.
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18

Congrats GW - bet that's a relief! Lots of people here have helpful budget spreadhseets. Get obsessive about updating one :)

And do stick around here- we want to know how it goes - and hubby's job hunt!

New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.
  • Oh I'm still going to stay around!
This site has given me so much inspiration, and I am sure it's only with the help of the site that I will be able to stay on track.

As for the mortgage hike, well I changed lenders and the offer I have is interest only until Dec 06. It helped me out in the past, (well it didn't really as I never factored it in, I was always aiming to start up a business to cover the money. Ho hum!)

As for OS, that reminds me, I have to clean the bathroom, so I better toddle off and do that before hubby gets in. (he had 11 hours agency work today :) )

    Ta-ra, catch you soon

Congratulations and well done on becoming debt free. Can you approch your mortgage lender and see if they can put you onto a different offer when this one runs out ? you may get penalties but they may be outweighed by possible savings against the £300 increase. All the best and good luck :)

  • Re: Changing lenders / offer.
I could do, and I considered it, but I am only putting off the 'problem'. For the last 3 years I have only paid the interest (not the other way round - sorry) so I am not actually clearing the mortgage.
Unless there is a sensible option around this, I think I will have to pay the £300 on top.

    Thanks
