The new lender sorts things out, especially if they provide free legals and survey costs. When I remortgaged with a new lender I paid a £400 plus mortgage fee to the new lender. They arranged a solicitor who asked my current lender for a redemption quote. This quote had lots of other charges such as redeption fees of the old lenders and interim interest charges. The new lender also sent a surveyor. It took about a month.
I got an overdraft facility incase I had to pay two mortgage repayments to old and new lender, which I did. Got a refund within a day.
