Me and husband are having a very much needed night in alone without baby with a bottle of wine tomorrow. We have made plans to get a take away. 2 pizzas two sides come in at £15. Can anybody direct me to a good link that will suffice as a nice alternative. I dont mind the cooking as long as me and hubby both enjoy it and dont feel like were missing out from a takeaway :-) Any suggestions

Hi Steph, can you not buy a large pizza and pop it in the oven to cook?
I bought a very large ham and pinapple one from Asda for 3 adults and some is still left in the fridge. It cost just over £3.If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

You could always try making your own pizza. All you have to do is make the dough, which you can do in advance. Then spread with tomato puree, your own choice of toppings (sliced mushrooms, bits of ham, bacon, olives, whatever..) and a sprinkle of grated cheese and whack in a really hot oven. I'm sure there are loads of recipes out there for inspiration. You can make it on a baking sheet. There's no law that says it has to be round.
Otherwise, there is fresh egg pasta and a sauce of some kind. Even if you buy a Lloyd Grossman jar you can always add a bit of chopped up cooked chicken or ham etc. to make it a bit special. Invest in a piece of real parmesan cheese to grate over, a bag of mixed salad with a dash of oil and vinegar dressing, some crusty bread, and you have a meal fit for a king.
Garlic bread? Easy! Take one small baguette, slit in the middle, crush 1 or 2 crushed cloves of garlic, a bit of finely chopped parsley if you have it, an a tablespoon of butter. Mix the butter and garlic and parsley together, spread into the slit, wrap the baguette in tinfoil and bung in a hot oven for 10-15 minutes until the butter has melted. Slice and serve.

I second that, then maybe buy a ready made sweet to follow and something to nibble on after.
If you are planning on spending £15, then do it. But spend your money on easy to cook things and the money you save spend on extras.
