Is that Everest as in Everest the double glazing firm? The same one that goes cold calling door to door to people that have new double glazing asking if they want new double glazing (or if sales are tough, a new cat flap perhaps)?

Saw a group of them get out of a minibus down our road the other day, must have been bussed in to the area. My parents contacted them a couple of years ago about a new garage door but they weren't interested, went to a local company instead who were.

If it's working in a call centre people phoning in who may be interested maybe not too bad, but can't imagine anything worse than going door knocking doing it, looking for the 'We do not buy or sell at the door' signs or phoning people trying to sell it.

I think very few people sign up for stuff on their door-step these days, they mainly like to research it themselves first.

Forgot to mention, anything they promise get in writing. If they 'promise' it they won't have a problem putting it in writing will they?

I worked for Everest for a little over a year, but it was about 25yrs ago when i was made redundant.I hated it but that's because i'm not pushy enough to be a good salesman.
We use to go knocking (called calling), then call back the following day to people who had given us their names
At the time we were told all we had to do was knock on 100 doors a week, ..... 30 people will give you their name to call back; .......... when you get back 10 of those people will let you in the house to do a 'dem', ...... by the law of averages for every 10 dems you did you would get 3 sales.
So it's dead easy, knock on any 100 houses and get 3 sales, average sale of £1000. Money for old rope.
For someone who was a good salesman the figures were probably true, but it's heartbreaking when you're knocking on 200 maybe 300 doors and getting no sales.
When i started i was over 3wks before i made a sale, and that was for 1 secondary glazed window.
We use to get 15%, then twice a year a further 2.5% but that was paid 6mths in arrears, it was a carrot to make you stay, if you left you never got your bonus even though you'd done the sales.
Now after saying how bad it was and how much i hated it, i did stay for over a year and i earned more than i'd previously been paid working in an office.
Remember when you go to see people in their houses you do it at their convenience, which means you're working every evening and all weekend, 7 days a week.
