Did you try to find the information you need here: http://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/index.html ?
In particular, see Account Information ...changing incorrect information0 -
grumbler thanks for reply but it's not imcorrect info.
long story, had credit card, closed it, transaction went on after closed so they didn't tell us for 2 months, then found to be a misstake & whole lot repaid.
mean while be applying for remortgage , first try was though a broker but due to charges said no, then turned down by nationwide who wouldn't tell me why so tried again with C&G who also declinde us but told us to contact experian, which we have but because of applying for mortgages we now have bad credit scores.
credit card company have said they will contact experian & explain but that still won't clear all the tries we have made to remortgage.
my question is can experian take off the tries we have made while credit card problem was showing????
also another pain is the rates have all gone up & on the amount we want it's gone up £20 a month!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -

What, exactly, is recorded on your credit file for this account? Is it just late payments? A default? or something else?
Mortgage lenders are the most lenient, in my experience, when dealing with your credit record. Firstly, they are more concerned about your ability to afford the repayments and secondly they are taking a charge over the property, meaning they will repossess if you fail to keep up the repayments.
They are generally relaxed about late payments and the odd default, especially if the account is now marked as "satisfied".
So can you tell us what your credit record shows for this account? And is there anything else on your credit record? Defaults, CCJs?
Give us more information and we may be able to give you some specific suggestions. Presently, the situation "looks odd" and not one I would expect to cause a problem with a mortgage application.

right i will try.
on my hubby's it has a credit card with 3 missed payments still showing this is the one we are hoping to clear. it has 3 tries at remortgaging.
as for me my score is poor at only 711 but can't see why other than the tries to remortgage.
i always pay on time & clear bal once 0% is up so any cards i have are clear at mo as i have paid them all off. there are 3 credit checks for credit cards since january which i'm sure doens' help.
once we have the credit card problem cleared i will call experian & ask if they can make a note or clear a couple of mortgage tries.
other than this we are lsot as to why i'm 711 & hubby is 529(they told us for hubby credit card was luckily to be the reason)0 -
If you've applied for mortgages and have given permission for credit checks to be carried out, the searches showing that these checks took place will appear on your credit report. We (Experian) cannot remove them - only the mortgage lenders could delete them as these records officially belong to them. But as they are factually correct, I don't think they would consider this. What you can do is wait a while - searches are only kept on your credit report for twelve months - and perhaps add an explanatory note to your report in the meantime explaining why there are late payments on your credit report and how this caused you to make several recent mortgage applications. Lenders will see this note when checking your report and may take it into account. You could also try going back to C & G and appealing against their original decision, explaining what has happened. You might find them willing to reconsider.“Official Company Representative

any credit checks made in 2000 are they due off now???0

I always thought that the credit score is based on a range of things i.e. whether you have a telephone, how long you have been at your address, how many searches carried out, how the existing accounts have been carried out, how long on the voters roll, your age etc etcMatched betting proceeds so far: £505.000

Credit checks made in 2000 would have been removed from your Experian report by the end of 2001. Credit accounts, however, are kept on your report for six years once they are closed.“Official Company Representative
