Any advice DD has a verruca?

My daughter has a verruca on her foot, which I assume she has caught from her regular swimming lessons. I visited the pharmacist and he said that he thought it was a verruca but wasn't entirely sure
. Hubby insists it is a verruca, pharmacist just said to leave it but DD is now starting to complain.
I have read in previous threads about duct tape, is this safe for my DD(8)?
Do I need to bother the daughter?
What do we do about swimming lessons? Anyone else have a child that has tried the latex swimming socks?
Another advice? lol
Thanks,:o

You will need to get verruca socks to stop it spreading to other kids (even though she probably got it at swimming:rolleyes:)
Take her to her GP if it's bothering her - if it's been around for a while it might go quite deep and be painful for her to walk on, the GP can confirm it for you. Duct tape is harmless, is meant to deprive the verruca of oxygen and make it drop off. never tried that though I've seen fok convinced it worked for them.;)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I haven't encountered a requirement for a swimming sock for 8 years now - most places accept that there is very little evidence to support using these.
There are numerous forms of treatment: apparently the military use duct tape (?!), most conventional otc treatments are based on salicylic acid and can be a bit messy - a lesser known one which is simpler to use (my favourite) is silver nitrate. Some alternative practitioners recommend bruised banana skins.
Most important thing is to check the diagnosis before using anything. nip into your GP and get it checked or, if you can, a chiropodist. DS has a freckle on his foot which always gets labelled a verucca by people who don't know - but the chiropodist has seen him several times over the years and it definitely isn't a verucca.Eat food. My son had a verruca on the ball of his foot which was painful every time he put his foot down. So we went to the GP and he just froze it off. It was painless and the verruca just dropped off after a week or so with no bother at all.
If it had been in a less troublesome place I think I would have asked the pharmacist for some stuff.0 -
Thanks, will make a doctor's appointment for her, when I asked the pharmacist he said not to use anything on it as treatments can inflame the skin around it.0

My dd had a verruca on the ball of her foot and the doc did the same (froze it) he offered a choice of cures but i think he enjoyed doing it tbh:D She did go twice though. My son had a verruca on the ball of his foot which was painful every time he put his foot down. I had one when i was younger, go it frozen off at the doctors, didn't hurt at all and was in and out within minutes.0

I was thinking of her wearing this so she didn't infect others or should I just keep her off lessons until its gone completely?0 -
please-go and visit a podiatrists (chiropdist) there is a whole range of treatment options and they can give you advice too. GPs will either freeze it (painful) or give you some salicylic acid. (messy and damages surrouning tissues)
Duct tape is a popular treatment but i gaurentee you'll get fed up before the lesion goes takes monthes and it doesn't stick very well but it is evidenced based.
look for HPC registered BSc Podiatry, there is a lot of superious qualified "foot health practitioner" who aren't qualified and uninsured.susiesue

Definetly dont just leave it. I left mine for nearly 18mths and it was very painful during that time. It did eventually go away. I was just too scared to have it frozen off after I had been to docs. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.0
