old style student loan problem

Left university in 1997 and took out last student loan in dec 1996. Haven't heard anything for years and 2 weeks ago received annual statement. Sent letter back quoting statute of limitation and 6 year rule, only to receive a letter today telling me they gt a ccj against me in july 2005 so they can enforce the debt. Nvere received summons or judgemnent and when i spoke to the court this morning they told me it was sent to an old address where i didn't live at that time. I check my credit file form all agencies regularly and have never seen it on there. I have a mortgage, loans and credit cards so i dont understand why i didn't know about it. I have been on electoral roll all the time so cannot understand it.
SLC are asking me to complete an income and expenditure form soon and if i dont they will apply for an attachment to earnings. I aasumed I could defer repayments as I earn £20,000 which is under current old style threshold and prior to that since graduating, I was a single parent on benfits.
Can I apply to have this judgement set aside using the 6 year limitation act because SLC applid for CCJ when debt was over 6 years old? I did fill in a deferrment form twice at benfits agency but not any contact whatsoever since but to be honest my memory is a bit sketchy because it is such a long time ago. Can I find out from benefits agency when I last completed a deferrment form because i would want to check i'm correct before trying to set aside the case.?

Do you think I've got a case here?
