Economy Gastronomy

For those of you who enjoyed the series with the great Allegra McEvedy (watching her face as someone suggests throwing away 80% of a chicken as it's 'leftover' is priceless!) and somewhat lurchy Paul Merrett - who also has that tendancy to Suddenly start Sentences in the Middle of a sentence, the book Economy Gastronomy is now on the Bookpeople website for £7.99. More emphasis on the Gastronomy rather than the Economy it's still an interesting one.

Hope it's helpful.:D

I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...

I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!

I bought a 6kg box of top class tomatoes from costco today (£5.99) and a big bag of shallots and a net of garlic, cut thyme from my herb box and used storecupboard olive oil. I made the tomato sauce recipe x 5 and have packed 20 boxes which are now in my freezer

I did the same two weeks ago and have used some of the sauce portions for various recipes eg adding some lentils to make a lovely easy pasta sauce. This sauce is most definitely a fantastic staple and it is all thanks to EG

The book is in the VIP section. I think you have to be a priority member [5 seperate orders in 1 year]. They also have Jamies' America for £10.99 and The Hairy Bikers tour of Britain for £7.99.

You can get Economy Gastronomy for £7 at WH Smith. The book is reduced to £12, and there's a voucher (print out and take to the shop) for £5 off any book £10 or over.
Jamies book is £13, use voucher and it's £8.
River Cottage Everyday is £12.50, £7.50 with voucher.
    Link to voucher here.
Valid til 1st Nov, thanks to Tillymint for posting.

I bought my copy at Asda for £10, and it is definately worth it. I love cookbooks but I have to say I have read this from front to back and it had some fab recipes in it. :T
