Letter from halifax today, discharged in 2007

Good afternoon everybody
This morning I received a letter from the halifax demanding £12 k or they will take legal action. This debt was on my soa and I have heard nothing from them in over 2 years so why now and do I ignore it?
I recently checked my credit file and found this was still classed as open on my file, so I followed the advice on here and took the necessary steps. I have heard nothing back so far though. Do you think this may be one last attempt to extract money from me before they close it?
Any advice would be gratefully received, as I was recently made redundant, and I am living up to my usernameat the minute .

could be a possibility...banks will usually try every trick both in & out the book although if the debts was included in the bankruptcy they are being a little naughty and if they take "legal" action they'll be laughed out of court!
contact them & send a copy of your bankruptcy paperwork & that should be it...you wont have to pay them a penny back
have you checked your files since you did the cleanup to make sure creditors have indeed done what you ask?We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -

Thanks for the speedy response
Yes I have checked and it is still there, although I was a little to eager to send my paperwork so stuck a few stamps off instead of sending it recorded. I think on Monday I will resend the necessary paperwork recorded.0 -
Actually I am sorry to mislead you, I checked my 1st post ( I joined in 05 but had to register again as forgot password) I received a letter last year on the 16th of october last year from halifax (thought it was egg) so could this be a yearly automated letter?
Of course that does not excuse the fact that I need to get it removed from my file asap0
