Irresponsible Lenders

I cannot believe how irresponsible some lenders are! Twice in the past 4 months I've contacted Virgin, and each time they've tried to push a loan onto me. Then logging into my online banking account, I'm apparently 'approved for a cash loan which could be in my account within 3 hours'.
It makes me sooooooo angry, I've got enough debt without them adding to it! Thank god, I've had my LB moment or I could have got into even more of a debt mess.
Rant over lol

I understand exactly what you mean, it drives me mad!
I get letters from my credit card company all of the time offering me loans because I'm already a customer with them. I know that my credit rating is pants and I would never be approved for a loan but I really think that they will not stop sending them until I call and ask for a loan.
Like you say it's a good job you have had your LB moment. It can be so tempting to give them call, but not any more! x0 -
I'm getting p**d off with the number of sales people with clipboard in airports / train stations / supermarkets / motorway services trundling around trying to sign me up for credit cards. A gentle "no thanks, I don't want one" just doesn't seem to work. I've had a couple of them move on to "it's not a credit card application, we'll just take your details and send some information to you" to which I asked "so you'll not be asking me questions like my occupation, annual income, marital status, ect?" - at which point they'll try and fob me off with another daft reason.
Even had one use the guilt option - "it's so cold, and I can't stop until I fulfill my quota". Sorry, I don't mean to sound cold and unfeelin. Buts that how I am.0 -
I find if you go into the branch they try to push things onto you. If I wanted something I'd ask.Barclaycard 3800

It was Barclays doing just that that got me a stupid Barlcayloan with a hideous APR. I know there are discussions about "who is responsible for our debt" and I always hold my hands up and say "me". But I was naive. Was chatting about an overdraft and the assistant said "Oh! there's a note on the screen saying you're pre approved for a loan!"
Stupid me. I signed on the dotted line before she'd even finished the sentence. Can I have a retroactive slap please?0 -
I have to agree that the people with clipboards are becoming a real pain. I know they have to earn a living, but each time I venture out of my office I'm bombarded. I might have the confidence NOW to tell them no, but its the people who don't I feel sorry for and get suckered into silly agreements they can't afford. Its nice to be important but more important to be nice!0

Even the "Leanders" I am paying reduced payment to are still sending me letters offering me another "loan". I just rip them up and put them in the recycle bin. Keep your Chin up.. it can only get better
I'm one of those people who was born to have money,

It's not just Credit Card companies either. When we bought our house the maximum we could get as a Building Society mortgage was 2.75 joint income.
(Try buying a house on that multiple now!!!). If you've noticed over the years the Building Societies have increased their 'multiples' as house prices have increased, in effect, fuelling the rise in house prices. If they had restricted their 'multiples' to a more realistic level, we wouldn't now be in a situation where the only chance the first-time buyers have of getting on the house buying market is in the 'hope' that a relative dies and leaves them some money!!!;)It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!0 -
People with clipboards should keep out of my way. I hate the have you had an accident ones, they prey on us. I don't want to change energy supplyer, get a credit card or anything else. All I want is to get accross town in peace.Barclaycard 3800
