Am I unemployable?

Hi there

First of all, thank you for all of the support provided on this forum, it has been an endless source of information and support this year.

First the good news is that I got my early discharge through last week!! :j

When I was declared bankrupt I lost my job at the bank where I was working. I have however really been struggling to get a new job, each time the interviews etc. go really well but then the bankruptcy rears its head and I don't get the job. My reference also informs possible employers that I was dismissed for gross misconduct due to bankruptcy. Last week I was offered a contract job and then again the bankruptcy and reference cut that short.

I am feeling quite unemployable and worthless, is anyone else experiencing this? It seems all I can do is to start my own business.........

It really doesn't seem fair. To be honest even if you worked in insurance as I and my OH did you would be dismissed for being bankrupt, but I can't see how it means you can't do the job. Perhaps you can write to your old employer and ask to meet with them and explain your situation. It may be that they alter the reference that they give you? It is worth a try. Alternatively It may be that you need to retrain and change industry.
