Direct debits

Sorry if this is in wrong thread
i cannceled 4 direct debits before they were due to come out of my account
But the bank still paid them and charged me 25 pound for going overdrawn
can i claim it back the payments and the 25 pound charges
bank says that they still have to pay them even though i canncelled them surley that carnt be right

You need to cancel them directly with your bank and then also with the providers themselves. Unless they are recurring credit card payments which I think are rather impossible to cancel if the provider won't do it.
The only thing is to put the complaint in writing to the customer services, they may refund you but if not it's possible to agree on a lower fee I believe by stating the fee charged does not accurately reflect the work undertaken.
