Thanks to a particularly useless ex-partner, it has transpired that my name is against a loan that I know nothing about, through Welcome Finance. Any idea how I might be able to prove my innocence on this subject and begin to sort it out?!

Go to the police and get a crime reference number- Welcome will be unable to ignore this - The police may try and pass you back to the bank for them to investigate but just say you are reporting a fraud with a named offender which is domestic related and therefor mandatory attendance.

More information would be required on this I think, is the loan a joint application or are you noted on it as a guarantor?

Was it an online application or have you signed paperwork for the loan?

There is probably a lot more information required to be checked before trotting off to the police who may not be able to help in anyway.

It may just be linked to you as you shared a financial link in another manner already.
