I dont think it goes "off" it may just tast different, sometimes better sometimes worse.
Beer is supposed to age for a while before it reaches its best anyway, but this point can be anywhere between 2 weeks and 10 years depending on the type of beer.
If you tallking abouit supermarket Pi** then it cant taste any worse than it does when it new, and it wont EVER go bad due to alll the chemicals.“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -
How out of date is THIS stuff:rotfl::rotfl:
A sensational cache of bottled beers dating back over 130 years has been discovered in Burton upon Trent, the home of Great British brewing. Found recently in the Worthington's White Shield brewery vaults, many are still in fine condition with their corks and wax seals still in place.“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -
If its "SELL BY" then that is a date by which time it should be sold = should be ok
If its "BEST BY" then it indicates may not be as strong or taste as good as it should do = should be ok
If its "USE BY" then it shouldnt be drunk = drink it at your peril
If the later and you bought it from a shop and the date had run out when you bought it take it back to the shop. HTH0 -
Out of date beer! - not a problem I've ever had.0

Exactly Bunny. Beer is meant for drinking, not laying down.0

Are we talking months or years?
A couple of months over shouldn't be a problem. A couple of years over probably won't either, altho it might start to taste a bit stale.
By my reckoning, if it tastes OK, it isn't going to do you any harm. I think if it's sooooo far gone that it will make you ill, it'll taste pretty vile first (and a tiny sip to see if it tastes ok won't kill you).I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

I'm with Bunny ...out of date beer ???0

I thought beer had to be used on day of purchase ;-)
I will selflessly offer to take any out of date beer off anyone who is worried about consumption themselves.....I wont even charge!0 -
You won't see a "Use By" date on beer, as it's not a high risk foodstuff that can cause food poisoning, even if it has been blamed on many a dodgy tummy after a big night out

The worst thing that can happen with the beer is that you'll get quality changes or that it de-gasses, but I shouldn't think that it will cause any problems.0 -
