50 inch TV....

My dad is looking to buy a 50 inch TV so I was sondering of anyone know of the best place to get one and if there are any good deals about.

Have a look here for Dixons vouchers. I think the voucher code on this page is latest one but can’t be sure.

You could also make an enquiry on AVForums for better advice. They might also be able to give advice on what size is suitable for viewing i.e. from sitting to viewing. And have a look at the Cheap LCD TV's discussion thread as well.

And you might be able to get possible cashback on either of the above stores.

i wouldnt bother with a plasma they are cheaper but they dont last you are best gettin an LCD one

I've also heard that they use more electricity. I not only posted these offers coz they’re cheapest but to give the OP a choice of what’s out there. I forgot to mention the former, I was thinking of this when I was looking for both these deals.

ooh i didnt know they used more electric!! i do know they run on a gas bottle type thing and they also dont like to be moved around very much!!! but who would be moving a 50inch tv round loads... not me lol

Don't quote me on whether they use more electricity as I heard this from someone who bought a TV recently and I'm not sure how knowledgeable they are regarding LCD or Plasma TV's.

I recommend you do your research. Treat my advice like the guy down the pub. Some stuff I'm reasonably sure of some less so.

Good thing about MSE someone else will be more knowledgeable. But it's also about making choices. You choose which you think is the best advice.

Our 50'' TV is a lot easier to move than our old 28'' CRT.


Btw, ours runs on electricity, not on gas. :rotfl:

I read somewhere that plasma TV's cost 5p an hour to run. That might depend on the size of screen though.

I have a 50" samsung and it deffo costs more to run my electric bill has gone up since I got it. Also gives off a lot of heat if you have it on for a while

yeah y mum bought a plasma tv when they 1st came out n the guy was expalining about the gas thing in the plasmas... not sure if they are still made the sae though?

neeedless to say the tv has been broke for a few years now lol
