Endowment Policy

Ok here goes some 20 odd years ago I was enticed into taking out an endowment policy even though I had not even bought a house.I had paid into the policy for about 4 years (about £50 per week - even though I was only earning about £75 per week) The time had come to buy a house for which my (ever increasing in value) endowment would be used. Now this was obviously a long time ago when endowments were actually worth something. When I did buy my first house the endowment would be tranferred to it but..... I ended up taking out a repayment mortgage instead and cancelled the endowment.I have never received any monies back from that endowment and was wondering (probably a long shot here) Is there any way of finding out where the endowment was taken out and to find out some details about it as I have no idea which company I got the policy through.

If you paid in for less than 5 years the policy wouldn't be worth anything because all the charges were front end loaded.Trying to keep it simple...
