Finally facing our HUGE Debt !!!! But still need your Inspiration !!!

I just wanted to say welcome and well done, you taken the hardest step by realising the size of the problem and doing somehing about it. Step by step you'll make remarkable progress towards your goal so keep going.

My tips for what they are worth:

Keep a spending diary. Our huge debt was run off not from extravagent spending (well apart from a couple of items) but just month by month overspending. Keeping a spending diary helped us realise what we were actually spending against what we thought we were spending. The difference was out debt clearly!
Keep a budget - this again moved with our spending diary. If your budget is realistic then you will have spare money at the end of each month to throw at the debt. Be honest and account for everything. Clearly with several imcomes in various currencies this won't be straightforward but it can be done.
Keep posting on here it really does help with the motivation particularly when you get setbacks

Welcome to diaryland Freckles and definitely keep a spending diary especially if you find that you dont have the surplus that your soa says you do.

Another productive day !! Made sausage rolls for the kids snacks and have raided the freezer for dinner for tonight....not entirely a NSD as had to buy milk and fruit but better than it would have been this time last week !!!!

Had a good day today !! Only spent 6 Euros !! Cat litter, onion, mushrooms and pasta !! All necessary so feel ok about it !!

Looking forward tovisiting the UK next week !! Just get annoyed that the food is so cheap there and we miss the variety !!!!

Just popping in as have been reading other diaries and am so looking forward to getting down to some serious MS !!! Have so many ideas and need pay day to come so we can start a fresh ! Looking forward to visiting family in the UK next week and we have budgeted for it so should be ok...apart from DD having no winter clothes that fir so will be hitting Primark and Tesco for a few bits !!

Will keep posting on the off chance that someone is reading this !!!

All packed and ready to go back to UK !! Fly later tonight and really looking forward to seeing all the family...and shopping !!! DD has no trousers that fit so will be hitting Tesco/Asda to kit her out for winter !!!!

Good luck with debt busting. Just a quick thought have you tried Skype for overseas calls? We have DD abroad and it has been great for speaking to her especially as free! Both parties need broadband connections I think but works really well and lovely to be able to see them with web cam rather than just hear their voice.

I'm back and ready to get some serious debt busting done !! We had a great week in the UK and didn't spend too much !!

Since getting back I have cleared Sainsburys CC !! Yeah !! Thats such a good feeling...£118.36 ...not a massive amount but a start !! I have also looked at my loan balance and it is less than I thought so will be recalculating debt and will adjust my signature soonest.

Thanks for all your messages of support....Maggiem we are avid users of Skype and really wouldn't know what to do without it !!! Thanks though....
