I don't think a GP can prescribe anti-psychotics without it being a recommendation from a psychiatrist. I've tried a few and the one I'm on suits me well. I'm sure though that if Elfen is being straight with her doctors then they'll be trying everything they can, and if not she needs to change doctors. It's taken me a while to find a psychiatrist who really tries everything, pushing for referrals and trying to find the right meds, she's worth her weight in gold.

Oldernotwiser's right though, you need to delete your post before it gets pulled, I've had less specific posts on meds removed. Maybe change it to 'has your psych tried different antipsychotics to find one that works for you'.

Not meaning to have a dig at you, it's just site rules.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Elfen, yes i can sympathise. I have recurrent depression and BPD. I really know what you mean by wanting to feel "normal". I had a CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) session yeasterday and she was asking me about hoe i felt and stuff and one thing that stuck out was how i wish i could feel normal. How i wish i couldn be "happy" and not feel like this everyday. I've been like this since i was 11/12 and i can't really remember what it was like to not feel this way.

for me what is helping now is medication and CBT (only just started that though). Non-one here can say what you should do, that should only really be discussed with medical professionals say your GP, or a psychiatrist but having that extra support has helped somewhat. You mentioned about the medical people, so i assume you're seeing someone? If not that would be a good place to start.

Its really goo that you're enjoying uni, i know its hard at times, but if you can focus on things that make you feel good then it helps take your mind off bad thoughts/urges etc.

I just want you to know you CAN be helped, and things can get better, even though honestly their is no quick fix, that doesn't mean you won't be ok one day. sorry if i'm rambelling, just wanted you to know you're not alone hun
