On closer inspection, Argos DO have stock, they've just changed their policy to the following:
"Due to popular demand, and to give all our customers a fair opportunity to purchase a Go Go Hamster, these will only be available to purchase in-store (not available to Check and Reserve). Limited stocks are expected - check at your local store."
