HP finance on car...
Hi, I am buying my future brother in law’s car off him next week and seeing as it is HP and has 10 months left, I’m paying the payments by transferring the money into his account each month and then paying the final payment when it’s due. We are unsure whether we can transfer the log book into my name now or whether we have to wait until the final payment is processed next year? The only issue is that I am finding it hard to get insurance with the log book not in my name and those companies that do offer are charging hundreds extra! Can’t see it being a problem in my name as the finance company won’t need to see the log book as long as the payments are made each month? Any advice? Many thanks

I believe you can change the log book over at any time, as long as the finance company keep getting their money no one cares.
That's why you see stories about people not doing an HP check, buying a car and changing over log book and then finding out about the outstanding HP.0
