I want to buy some binoculars to take to the Lake District, just fo looking at views really.
i want some that are small in size and they have to come from Argos so I can use my nectar points (from test drive).
Anyone understand binocular jargon or now which ones to avoid?

Avoid "zoom" binoculars they tend to be poor.
Anything over 10 times magnification tends to be hard to hand hold still enough to get good views. For general use 8x40 are a good combination of apeture and magnification and size/weight. If you want smaller then 8x22 or 8x25 would be good for pocket size.
Looking at the Argos range the Nikon Sportstar 8 X 25 Roof Prism at £99 are the only ones that stand out as decent quality/practicality. But at £99 they are over £30 more than they are at for example Pixmania. All the rest of the range looks pretty much overpriced tat.Joe
