Top Cashback / AA Car insurance.

Would seek advise as how how to drill down my motor insurance renewal further using the topcashback site. It just so happens that my motor insurance is due for renewal from the AA at a price of £343. After checking all the comparison sites and then returning back to the AA, they agreed to reduce my premium down to £304. However by using the topcashback and clicking through this pays back an additional £50. Is it possible to combine the cashback with the reduced renewal premium? Can I point out that currently the AA website has been down for renewals over the net. In addition, after clicking through to the AA, this only links you to a new quotation page. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm assuming they agreed to the reduced price via phone??
If so, you will not qualify for the cashback.

Yes, they ageed over the phone to reduce the premium. Their notes are updated and I can phone them before my renewal date to secure the reduced premium. Is there any mileage in requesting a new quotation, then phonong the AA to reduce the new quotation to my new renewal price? Do the cashback sites work in this way though. Must you complete the entire transaction online or can the transaction be finished by other communication methods as in my case. Thanks.

Personally I think your best chance would be to get a quote via TCB and phone and ask them to match the price minus cashback. If successful it would save waiting for the cashback.
To get the cashback from TCB it would have to be fully completed online.

BTW, have you had any other quotes??

Yes I'll try your suggestion and let you all know the outcome. I did receive cheaper quotes, but as I wanted protecd NCB and legal cover, this made the AA the cheapest.

have you tried going through a comparison site like comparethemarket or confused? I found if you pretend you are a new customer you get a cheaper quote from your existing company. Then you can input the details again via topcashback and get your cashback.
Morethan gave me a cheap new customer quote on comparison sites a couple of years ago, which they refused to match over the phone on a renewal - so I took out the insurance online but still with them! Mad!

I have done that for past years but this year the renweal wasnt much difference than a new customer, the only difference was £30 cashback

I went with another company last week through TCB unfortunately after 7 days it didnt track so as I was within 14 day cooling of period from Aviva I cancelled. I may try again as I still have to end of month to do a new policy
