Help getting a personal loan

Can anyone recommend a good personal loan service for people with bad/poor credit? I'm looking for an unsecured loan for about £2k.

However, I keep being refused for which I can only assume is due to a bad credit rating. I seem to keep getting declined after the credit check.
So far I have tried halifax and smile (both of which I have current accounts with).

I think the reason I am being refused is due to having two student bank account being handed to the debt collectors (for various reasons) when I was at uni. I'm am on repayment schemes with 'Metropolitan collections' and 'unidebt'. I believe both accounts are almost paid off.

I have been in a decent 20k+ job for the past two years and longer now, so should have no problems paying it back.

I wonder If anyone has been in a similar situation and managed to get a loan?

any help will be greatly appreciated :)

from the information you have supplied no rational responsible lender with give you a loan
  • Thanks for your reply. When you say 'no rational responsible lender' does this mean I could still find someone willing to give me a loan? albeit with a unfeasibly high APR? aka loan shark territory?

Well it maybe, that someboby will give you a loan for £2-300 at 2000% apr but without knowing your circumstances one wouldn't recommend that
  • Do you mind me asking why you want a loan, if you are earning a relatively good salary? If it is for something in particular? You could challange yourself to raise the £2000 in a certain time frame? Joining Quidco, selling goods on Ebay, car boot sale... etc etc.

There are loads of ideas and suggestions on up-in your income on this board that would help you.

You may want to check your credit rating with Experian or a similar credit reference agency before you go applying for any more loans, as each application will leave a "footprint" on your credit score.

Hope this info is of some help to you!
