Yeah, EVERYTHING was removed, I didn't cope to well with the brain coming out! I did heave a bit to begin with and thought at one point I was going to pass out. I watched it from behind a glass panel so I couldn't smell anything (If I could have I would have been sick for sure!!) But honestly if you told me that I would have done that a few years ago I would have laughed in your face.

Anyone wanting to be a vet, doctor, dentist has to start thinking about their cv very young before applying. Your child will have to do work experience and voluntary work before applying and repeated exposure to squeamish things soon desensitizes you.
My father was a pathologist and so you can imagine the discussions over our dinner table . Nevertheless to get a strong stomach I worked with a knacker(picking up animal carcasses) , the local vet, an old peoples home and sat in with a dentist.
The medical professions require great self motivation and discipline and if your child is serious about becoming a vet they will have to force themselves to get over it but as a parent you have to support them but you can't do it for them.0 -
brook2kack makes a very good point.
My son has just started first year veterinary. His year were all put through some bizazare form of initiation ceremony by the older students.
It involved "ducking for apples" in a paddling pool full of horse and cow dung and urine!
The "apples" turned out to be pigs hearts!
Then they were rugby tackled into a pile of sheeps intestines! he said they nearly all threw up.
I think the point of it is to desensitise them for what lies ahead.
They were told to wear old clothes that they could throw away but DS couldnt find old shorts to fit to wore his gym kit ones. Last I heard he still hadnt washed them and the pockets were full of bits urh....

if you google total knee replacements there is a site comes up called edheads - this site has 3 ops on it - all in animated question and answer and moving things with the mouse to 'help' with the op! it is very non squeemish but does give a good idea abot how and why ops are performed - in a fun way .. i found out about this from a retired theatre nurse who was having a total knee replacement and found it put her mind at rest - even though she had assisted on hundreds of operations.
may be of some help.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0
