I'm not putting words in your mouth at all. I assumed you brought up the "12% of 5%" in order to make it statistically less significant. Yet you then turn around and say than they're stupid, so are targeted more by criminals, which would make them more statistically significant.

It is insignificant. They are stupid, and stupid people are targeted by criminals because they're easy targets.

I didn't put these to things together you did. I made three separate comments; one about your statistics, one about americans being rich and dumb, and one about criminal habits.
So, I'm at all loss as to whether the 12% US households who have a Mac are worthwhile targets for criminals or not.

No because 12% of 5% aint worth it really, there more idiots using windows worldwide.
Unless your comments was entirely apropos of nothing, in which case I apologise.

    Answered above in first reply.
    An average?

    Yes an average.
Pray tell, where did you get this data from?

    From experience.
What do you use to measure the intelligence of a population?

    Common sense.
I mean, I guess you could look at the the percentage who have a degree, but then you'd find out less than 20% of the UK population have a degree, whereas 35% of the US population have one, despite the fact that higher education is prohibitively more expensive in the US than the UK.

Degrees are bits of paper that generally means your able to regurgitate anothers work after memorising it.
Or perhaps one could look at which country has the most dominant media, culture, economy, businesses, military, etc. I would have thought these things wouldn't be created by a country where the average person is a moron.

Most bullies are morons. (American media is pants)

I think if you're trying to use your "experience" to measure the intelligence of 300 million people, common sense might be lacking I'm afraid.

A bit like statistics, what is it they say 99% of statistics are fake. And whats more valid than experience?

Personally I dont have a degree as im certainly more 'hands on'
But I respect everyone that DOES have a degree as theyve had to REALLY put some work in to get them. A 'stupid' person simply wouldnt be able achieve a degree

First off, Microsoft don't make computers, so you have to differentiate between the OS and the hardware.

That certainly explains why there is more malware for Windows. 12% of US households have a Mac now though, so it's not as if it's a tiny little market.

I have seen malware for linux (I wasn't root so it had to ask me to run itself !!!!) so I bet some exists for Mac.

Experience is perfectly valid, but you have to put that experience into context to draw any meaningful conclusions from it.

America is a really big place, full of lots of different kinds of people.

It's difficult to compare someone who lives in the urban sprawl of Manhattan to someone who lives on a cattle ranch in Texas, someone who lives in a log cabin in Alaska, or someone who lives by a tropical beach in Hawaii.

We're all familiar with the stereotype of the loud-mouth stupid American tourist who tries to buy Tower Bridge to put in their back garden, but one only needs to stop and consider how well they fit stereotypes of their own nationality. A survey by Expedia a few years ago found that British tourists are regarded as the "rudest, meanest, worst-behaved, most linguistically incompetent and least adventurous holidaymakers" in world, and they were the least welcome whenever they went anywhere. The Germans were the mist highly regarded tourists, closely followed by the Americas who were the most courteous, made the most effort to speak the local language, and tipped the best.

I'm sure you wouldn't want to be regarded as rude, mean, badly-behaved, linguistically incompetent and unadventurous based solely upon conceptions of your countrymen.

We brits have a truly awful reputation. Interesting that the report said the germans were the most highly regarded ~ A few stories ive heard of them says different. But of course thats personal experience and a few stories, a survey should portray a much more even report

Trust me I'm quite stupid and I managed it. Besides you can get degrees in Ghostbusting so I wouldn't put to much stock in these bits of paper. http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/bizarre/Top+Ten+Weirdest+University+Courses-51378.html

Marty, you find theres two definite things in life one you're gonna die and two everyone stereotypes. My stereotypes are based on experiences I've had with real americans and their media. I'm sure there are lovely people over there somewhere but I've no experience with them; besides these guys gave us creationism and scientology.

"I'm sure you wouldn't want to be regarded as rude, mean, badly-behaved, linguistically incompetent"

I'm sure if you did a poll about this you'd find most people saying that I am all of the above. I'd probably have to agree.

English actualy get the worst press of Brits, If you explain you are Scots, Welsh or Northern Ireland you sometimes get exempted fro the stereotype (unless you are a stereotype, neds, spydes and townies are no better than chavs and scallies and you don't need the brains of an archbishop to spot them).
