I made it through!
Don't ignore a problem. Unlike a bad smell, it won't eventually go away.0 -
Thanks Lardy1, very helpful advice. Do I just look up business debtline on the internet?
Our debts are around the same amount as yours, about £80,000 between us and £17000 tax bills.
I think my OH will go BR first and then me at a later date. It will take us forever to save the fees.
I have started filling in the forms online but have only filled in the easy bits so far. I'm finding the questions very difficult.
I have a daughter who works living at home, so I will put her down as non-depenant, but will they expect her to contribute her wages to the soa? She has only just started working and doesn't have any spare money for us!0 -
Yes, just google business debtline and contact number will come up. I phoned them and I can 4th that they were good!

Speak to National debt line or one of the other debt charities NOW and before you go down the BR route you talk of saving the fees, if you have even a very small surplus of income over expenditure they will probably be able to help you.
Not being judgemental but if you had done this two years ago they could have probably had your credit card debts frozen so they were not accrueing any more interest.
I can not urge you strongly enough to get in touch with them, try to get as much of the paperwork together as possible with details of your incomes and expenditures, don't hide anything from them.
They will be able to negotiate on your behalf stop the letters and phone calls and help you sleep at night
Also consider going over to the debt free wanabee board and posting a SOA they are very good over there on helping you cut down your outgoings.
Good luck and please do make those phone calls0 -
Inland Revenue don't usually wait around - they prefer to close their file even if it means bankruptcy. By all means OP should make all the enquiries they can but if push comes to shove they should have their fees ready for a quick BR.Speak to National debt line or one of the other debt charities NOW and before you go down the BR route you talk of saving the fees, if you have even a very small surplus of income over expenditure they will probably be able to help you.

WW - Find your local court that deals with BR and see what their procedure is in case there is a long wait for an appointment so you know the timescale if you do end up going down that route.
