Final bill from electricity supplier

Hi!
We have recently changed electricity suppliers and have received our final bill from our old supplier. We were paying by direct debit, a fixed amount per month for budgeting purposes. Basically, we cannot afford to pay this bill all in one go so I am wondering what will happen, and what they might say about it? The reason we originally went to direct debit was because we couldn't afford the quarterly bills and it worked out great with monthly dd.
Any experience/feedback welcome.

Hi!
Well that sounds promising, I am going to give them a call today and sort it out, but wanted to know what to expect that they could say about it.

Yep, Ive had exactly the same thing happen to me, paid them off a bit at a time. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I just had my final gas bill in: £98!!! I have paid it all in one go though as I didn't realise you could spread the payment.......b*gger.
Oh well, it's done now.....I just have to do some serious budgeting for the next few months to prevent going OD again.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010

Spreading the payment, can be done, but its not easy to budget obviouslyas you need to budget for the arrears and for the projection of the next bill. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Can't remember which power company it was but once got an £800 bill. The lady on the end of the phone asked me how long I wanted to pay it off. As long as you speak to them absolutely not problem for you to sort this out at all.Debt as at 12th July 2006 - £61,345
Debt free 21st Oct 2011.
All thanks to :money:0 -
I've just spoke to n power this morning about my bill as it has come through and its huge. I have asked if it can be paid back in smaller amounts as well as paying the correct amount for future but they said no - it has to be paid as detailed on the bill. did i just get a really unhelpful person on the phone?
