Is no-one interested in hard workers nowadays?

Options
I've got on my CV that I am willing to work every day (every single day) from now until 20/8/2010, and yet I am still no further in my job search.

Do employers not value dedicationa nd hard work these days?

    I wouldn't....

I'd expect anyone working 7 days a week long term with no break to either:

Go 'slightly' nuts (observed first hand on offshore oil platforms)
    Have their health suffer
    Become tired/unproductive/distracted over time
Anyone not wanting any time off runs the risk of being a bit odd anyways
Its probably illegal not to give/have people take regular time off
  • I know the feeling.I have put my CV on every recruitment web site and i have had no response.I am prepared to do anything and a think that could be my problem.
All we can do is keep trying.

You need to stand out from the crowd, putting a generic CV on recruitment websites and offering to work every single day for the next 10 months isn't looking for work.

and if you've written that you're willing to work every single day up until a specific day, the employer is going to wonder what's going to happen after that day as well .. are you going to just up and leave ?
  • If putting my CV on recruitment websites isnt looking for work than maybe someone who knows how to can give me some constructive advice, not criticism.
  • I'd suggest you ring up/visit companies asking if they have any jobs and visit sites like fish and jobsite etc. After all there's more chance of you finding the job you want than the job you want finding you.
  • Also make sure every week you re-upload your CV as when a recruiter does do a CV search they may only look for CV's added in teh last week etc.

Make sure your CV contains Buzz Words from the industry you are looking for work in.

Recruiters will only ever skim your CV the first time they see it so highlight things you want them to see, don't be to open to do anything as they will think it looks desprate, try and stay in a few industries/roles.

P.S I work in HR so these is just my expirence from working with recruiters.

I’m back and more determined than ever!!!!!
  • sounds like good advice Tasha
  • to be honest i have just taken someone on at work, who came into work and asked if i had any vacancies, at the time i didnt, but i kept his details.

to be honest for me this shows how someone is willing to go out and promote themselves. as i must admit in march i had over 150 application forms for another job, and it is pot luck when you read through the forms,

i would go out and 'target' the companies/businesses you would like to work for, and go and promote yourself to them.

good luck hope you do find a job that derserve you..

I agree, employers don't want the stress of having to recruit and retrain someone so it's going to put employers off. Even if you plan to work until a certain date it's best not to mention this until you give them your notice.
