Red Driving School Barclays Loan

Hi, i haven't been on for a while but my husband has a problem with RED driving school. He signed up on the 11th Sept with them to undertake training to become a driving instructor. He found out a few weeks ago that he has lost his job as manager and will be demoted to sales man which is £3000 less. After reading RED's so called contract we found out if he cancels within 30 days he will have to pay back 1/2 fees, He has not used any of the training facilities from RED and hasnt even entered a classroom for training, the only thing he has is books form them. I have wrote to them stressing about money, losing job etc but they seem to send a standard letter to everyone, this company even has a hate page on Facebook!

Please advise if theres anyway he can get out of this?? I did notice they have his wrong date of birth on his course agreement! Anything to get away from them! HELP!

There is a long thread about Red Driving School on here somewhere, none of it is good reading unfortunately.

From the tone of that thread, it was very unlikely he was ever going to benefit from signing up.

I know, He found out he'd lost his manager job, then a friend told him how bad RED were, he then went and googled RED and everything came up! BAD!

Just wondered about loan agreements, Barclays dont even have a 14 day cooling off?? Strange, no cancellation mentioned, Any advice who i can speak to?

In the first instance go to the CAB.

Thank you, I will do , Still fighting! Wrote to Ombudsman and local MP. Keep my fingers crossed.

Hi, my partner is going through the exact same thing!

I am his guarantor too.

We have sent at least 4-5 letters to them and again they are not helpful.

My partner has not completed any of the course on line just has the literature.

Please can you let me know how you get on?
I will also be going to the CAB for help as I seem to be getting nowhere with red!

I sent endless letters quoting from their credit agreement, they also state they treat everyone the same, I said 'well u dont as my husband cannot afford it', they are giving loans to unemployed, how are they going to pay it??

Any luck with yours?

look out for any training course that is funded from barclays partner finance, they are constantly letting people get ripped off and reaping the rewards. go to citezens advice, consumer direct and if you have any problems with barclays parnter finance you feel are unfair go straight to the financial ombudsman.
