I've now spoken to HSBC, and the woman dealing with the appeal has been off ill. She's going to put it through, but told me that in the past year, HSBC have only overturned 1... yes, 1 application after appeal. So things don't look too good for us there.

Now have a mortgage appointment with NatWest next week who will hopefully give more positive news. They're asking to see my girlfriend's contract, but do they need to do this, or will the last 3 payslips suffice? I now understand why buying a house is one of the most stressful things a person can do ;)

    Hi all,

As requested, here''s an update to our situation. After 2 weeks, HSBC got back to us an have accepted our appeal with two conditions:

    1. Both myself and my OH have to drop our interest-free overdrafts to £500 each (from £2000 and £1500 respectively)
    2. I have to move all of my banking to HSBC (i.e. get paid into this account)
So happy days, now we just need to get through the valuation!

something to consider could be applying for a personal loan to boost your deposit to 15%. At 15% you have better rates and a plethora of lenders to choose from.

:exclamatiDo not follow this advice above. If the lender was aware they would not give you the mortgage. If you hide it from them you are commiting fraud a criminal act punishable by imprisonment.:exclamati
