Does This Sound OK?

Just wondered if you would kindly read through what I have put down in the "Reason for Bankruptcy" section on BR forms - does this sound OK? Feel like I went into moan mode at the end and it probably isn't relevant??? Any feedback much appreciated:

Since early 2007 due to my mothers failing health I have had to become a full time carer. I sold off my share in a business to enable me to be free to do this, but there was a large shortfall in the money I was expecting from this sale, which left me with outstanding debts which I have been unable to clear. The main bulk of the debt is a loan from Lloyds TSB - I had insurance on this loan which Lloyds claimed did not cover my circumstances, and eventually the Financial Ombudsman ordered that the amount I had paid out for the insurance be deducted from the amount left owing, but this still leaves a huge debt, and given my limited income I cannot hope to repay this money, and very sadly have come to the conclusion that bankruptcy is my only option. Since September 2008 I have been unable to make the re-payments on this loan. I have never incurred any debt that I did not believe I could re-pay, and believe I have always conducted my financial affairs in a responsible way. I have found the stress of this situation to be almost unbearable, and the way the bank has dealt with this has left me dismayed, having been a long standing customer of over twenty years I had expected to be dealt with in a more personal way, but their handing over this matter to a debt collection agency who have been ringing repeatedly throughout the day from early morning into the evening has brought me to the end of the road.

Funny - I have been putting off filling in this section - just found I kept crying :o:o:o But time to bite the bullet and get on with it.

I'm no expert but it sounds pretty good to me. You may want to add the actual amounts of the debts in there though.

I may be tempted to not gone into as much detail at the end though. This statement is so the OR can get an idea of why you are BR and not about the dealings you had with the bank ie. phone calls.

Like I said I'm not an expert though. Good Luck.

Thanks Crowman I did wonder if I should include amounts, or if this was not necessary as it would all be in the SOA - I guess more info is better than too little!
  • Thanks Waspeze

Guess I should cover the "have you taken proper advice" section! Very good point, I will ammend it.

Let me know if you want me to PM you my statement (I went BR last weds). I had very good advice on here which virtually meant it was written for me. It will obviously be different to yours but it may give you some ideas.

I put it in mine and the judge said that she could see i'd taken advice and who was she to disagree with CCCS's opinion so stamped it straight away :D

It is all in the forms somewhere but it will make the OR's job a little easier if they can get a good picture by reading the statement.
