Orlando via Amsterdam with KLM.com|& Martinair - Anyone Done This?

Hi guys,

I'm just wondering if anyone has flown to Orlando via this method as it works out loads £££ cheaper than direct!

Anyone know anything about this? how does the connect flight work for example - do you wait hours for the connecting flight stuck in the 2nd airport! also, does anyone know anyhing about flying with KLM & Martinair - never heard of them!

I normally just fly direct hence all the silly questions! any advice greatly appreciated ta.

havent done the orlando leg but done amsterdam to other places loads of times and its ok, just make sure you book flights with a relatively short connection time as you dont want to sit in an airport all day. Amsterdam is excellent, we have to fly via there or London or Paris and prefer Amsterdam over the other two, much easier, quite small and walking distance to the other gates.

KLM are massive so you wont have any issues with them.

    Hi, cheers for that.

I'm guessing the connection/waiting times are these (in bold?)

    09:55-12:15 1h 20 Manchester (MAN) Amsterdam (AMS)
    1h 25 Connect in airport

13:40-17:55 10h 15 Amsterdam (AMS) Orlando International (MCO) Martinair

19:55-10:15 8h 20 (+1) Orlando International (MCO) Amsterdam (AMS) Martinair
    3h 20 Connect in airport

KLM have a wide choice of flights to AMS, so you can minimize your connection time. I have never used Martinair but they have been around for a long time, so I guess they are ok.

Hi, i can't seem to get the price though as cheap when a seperate the
two, Martinair seem to want £900 euros from Amsterdam to Orlando alone!

It seems to be only available when booking Klm & Martinair together in one hit, strange.

Honestly Idont think the connection time of 3 hours is that bad. I would do it if I was saving over 100 pp. Your direct options from man- orl are pretty lame IMO. We just went on Thomas cook and alstohugh the seat pitch was fantastic the food smelt rough ( lots of complaints- we took a sandwich) and seat back entertainment non existent on the way out. Virgin i think are still doing the man-orlando leg but Dibb users are giving virgin a pretty bad rap too at the mo, preferring TC.

Next time we are flying sched over direct charter, I know I always say this bt there isnt the price differential there used to be, so sched all the way.

can feel a long time but will probably pass quickly once you have something to eat. looking at the KLM site looks like you just miss the flight back to manchester as it leaves at 10am. Havent flown martin air before but have heard that they code share with KLM so you could be on one of their flights.

have you tried https://www.kayak.co.uk you can also fly via Paris (awful airport) and it can be cheaper as well.

Yep, that's where i found the cheapest flight from! can't see via Paris though.

I'm a bit wary though of all the bother involved swopping flights etc not sure whats involved at all! it's a bit 'scary'!!

The bags get dealt with for you,. I was scared of it once, I had to flyt to tokyo via frankfurt. the bags are taken care of so it gives you a bit of time to find the new gate buy something to eat, go loo etc, and your ready to board. Some flights board 40 mins before take off too.

I did a 12 hour wait in nairobi once though, bam that killed me! :rotfl:

KLM are a good airline, pretty much as good as they get for economy travel. Schipol airport is probably my fave for transfers, very easy to find your way around and lots of places to eat/ drink/ relax.

I would choose to fly from a local UK airport and transfer at Schipol, than travel any great distance to get a direct flight from the UK.
    Gone ... or have I?
