is my slow cooker broken??!!

Just a quick question, as it is colder now, i've got my slow cooker back out and have used it a few times over the last couple of weeks. I'm sure that last year when i used it, nothing ever dried out in it.
when i used to do joints in it, i would just put a cup fullo f water in, now when i do that, the top half of the joint dries out and goes tough and dry tasting.
I did a turkey curry in it the other day, and the top of the turkey that was slightly out of the sauce was all dry too.
Now i may just have a bad memory, but i'm sure it wasn't like this before?? do you think maybe my lid is not fitting properly now??
sorry if it's a waste of time question, and it's just me being stupid, but it did ruin the joint of beef i bought.
thank you for your time reading this, any advice appreciated!

on low heat, from 8.30 till 5.300

I would guess you have a problem with the lid, the steam is escaping instead of circulating inside the cooker. Check for chips or open cracks in the lid, or around the top rim of the crock-pot.
If you can use it one day when you are in the house, try putting a folded towel over the top of the pot, covering the edges of the lid, and see if it performs any better (don't leave it without checking the towel regularly, possibly a minor fire risk).I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
thank you, there are a few small cracks on the plastic handle bit of the lid, and the lid does seem loose. not a snug fit so to speak!0
