MSE user star system

Hey guys, I don't know if anyone else has asked this question, or if this is the right place to ask it, but does anyone know when how many posts you have to make to move up a grade in the MSE star/medal system? I got my first and second stars but just noticed my post count for the first time in ages, and am just wondering how many more posts my bronze medal will take. I would be interesting to know as I don't think it's just every 100 posts or so as it was for the stars.

Does anyone know how many posts it takes to get from each 'grade' to the next?

I would be wary of people who just post to get another star/medal. Surely posting is about quality not quantity.

Indeed. I would just like to point out that I'm not one of those people: I had just totally lost count of how many posts I had made and was a bit shocked to see how many they were, then it reminded me about the time I had logged in and realised I had a second star, so I just wonderered when the next one comes along. I'm quite happy with two stars: I don't think I deserve anything more (yet). Maybe when I've been very, very good and saved lots of money...:rolleyes:

It's all lost in the mist of time for me. All I remember is that you get the maximum stars at around 10,000 posts and then the rosettes at around 55,000 posts.

Now, I know that 55k posts and above looks like a no-lifer is at large, but believe me, when you type fast and take part in the word games in the Arms board, you can clock 50 in an evening. Sad innit...

Hello Quasar! :hello:

I've seen you in other threads. They've had to create a special category for you alone, methinks. You really are one of a kind! Has anyone else managed to get your super-special red rocket type medals, or are you truly unique? (And are they the 'rosettes' you mention?)

Yeah I remember seeing you too.

Correct, these are the rosettes and kipper, a board guide in competitions also has them too, and one or two users are creeping up behind us.

If you click on the forum tool bar at the top of the page, on Members List, and then click again at the top on Posts, it will bring up the list by higher posters down.

What is the star system?

The more you post (write or reply to messages) on the boards, the higher ranked MoneySaver you become. There are five levels and at each you get another star and change of title. The exact thresholds are a closely guarded secret. However it’s all perfectly fair.

It should be noted the rankings are governed by the stars people get. These stars are purely for posting, they don't indicate the quality of information, it's just a bit of fun.
