remember to call them by their correct names

Direct debit - the company is the only one who can cancel it

Standing Order - is the one you control and can cancel or change ant time

    Good Luck

I've cancelled direct debits too. With a DD you don't have control over how much is taken, but you can cancel it.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • Well things came to something of a head yesterday when I tried to speak to my bank about the financial position I was in. Basically the upshot from the extremely unhelpful member of staff was that they simply couldn't help me in the branch and that I would have to phone someone up instead. Have to say I was rather incensed by this and have complained about the frankly crap service that they gave me.

Anyway this was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak and yesterday evening I spoke to my parents and they were wonderful about it, completely understanding about the situation I have found myself in and they told me that they will support me in whatever I choose to do next.

So what is going to happen is that I am going to sit down with my father and we are going to go through exactly what my income and outgoings are, so that I have a much better idea of the exact position I am in. My father has always been very good when it comes to figures, but I certainly haven't inherited his head for figures hence the position I'm in.

I will let you all know what the result of all this will be, most likely I will end up taking out a DMP with the CCCS as I've already mentioned.

The journey back from the depths has begun.:)
