Does anyone have a Morphy Richards 48200 breadmaker

I have just picked up one of these at a Car Boot for £2.50 :j:j:j

It is an old model I know but it is complete with instruction booklet and like new inside including the pan.

Unfortunately, the measure is missing and the instructions give 'measures' of flour, water etc but not how much is in the measure.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks........

Thanks, but it seems to be the same as the one that was in the machine. What I need to know is what is the volume of the measuring cup or the weight it holds. so I can find something similar.

I don't have one, but I imagine it uses the US "cup" measure. I have a Rachel Allen breadmaker that uses this. You can find measuring cups easily - there's lots on ebay.

You could always phone/email Morphy Richards for confirmation, just saying that you've lost your old one and need to replace it. They might even send you one.

I have a really old MR breadmaker (about 7-8 years) and the cup measure is 8oz which is the same size as a standard cup if you buy the cup measure sets.

Mine may not be the same model but they probably used the same for them all.

    Hi stilernin,

What a great find! My breadmaker is a Morphy Richards but a different model to yours so the measurements may be different but one of my cups = 220mls or 8oz.

As previously suggested, you should probably give MR a call as their customer service department is usually very helpful. Telephone no 0844 871 0944 or you can order a spare set from them here for £5.85

Yes, Morphy Richards are excellent and you can buy a replacement cup from them - I did. It's not expenxive and the breadmaker itself is very good.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.
  • If you have a measuring jug or gravy strainer jug in your cupboard check it, as it might well have American cup measurements on it too, which might save you from having to buy/store yet another kitchen gadget.

Thanks everyone. I do have a set of 'cups' if that is what the measure is.

I did google 'breadmaker recipes' and came up with this

    "
I used to have a morphy richards and I think a cup of flour was 145g.

This is the recipe I used to use:

    Yeast 1.25 tsp
    Flour 430g
    Sugar 2.25 tbsp
    Butter 1 oz
    Water 270 ml
    Milk pdr 2.5 tbsp
    Salt 1.25 tsp"

,,,,,,,,,, and where was this from? MSE!! A thread from 2007 where someone had asked exactly the same question as me.

    Should've searched :o

    Thanks again
  • Hi! I am another happy 2nd hand buyer of the 48200, and I can't order the accesories from MR because I live in Argentina (just imagine, I'd pay for postage and packaging much more than the goods themselves, and i'd have to wait for ages for them to come here).
OK, our cup might be 8 oz.
Could someone please give us a light about the teaspoon and the tablespoon?
(reading the manual, it many many times states things like "use EXACTLY the quantities stated here, little differences may lead to unedible loaves and other nightmares" :) )
    Thanks in advance!!!
  • 1 teaspoon is 5ml and 1 tablespoon is 15ml...does that help at all ??
