My son was made redundant last January. He was claiming job seekers allowance. He managed to get a job in August. It is at Tesco's and is only 12 hours a week. sometimes he may get some extra hours in. He does not earn enough to pay the NI contribution. Will he be behind when he gets to retirement age? Or will he be credited with it as he is on low pay?

He would have like a full time job but as this was the only place that responded to his application form, he thought he had better take it. the pay is marginally more than his job seekers allowance.
Keep on trucking!
