natwest taking money without a dd set up?
Paid off my natwest loan last month and cancelled the direct debit.....
Few weeks later, natwest 'set up automatically' the direct debit and take a payment for £178 out of my current account. i called them and questioned it as i had cancelled the dd. they sed it was a system error and sent the money back to my current account.
today i find they have taken another £128 to close the loan account. while yes i agree they mite be due a small amount for early settlement, i do not agree they can just go into my account and take my money jepordising my other bills coming out!!
im furious! do i have grounds to go to the ombudsman re this as this is twice in 2 weeks that they have taken over £300 from my account without permission and without even a warning they are going to do it!

No you do not.
If you have a debt with one part of the bank they can take it out of another part ie your account.
Its called a right of settlement.0
