At my wits end with Abbey
Hi, first post guys so hope you can help!
In a nut shell, i had a personal loan with abbey, near to the end of the term i took out another loan which paid off the remaining 2 payments - there's a word for this but i can't remember what it is - they told me to cancel my standing order for the old loan amount and the new one would start to come out soon. i did as i was asked but then they called and said i was in arrears by one month as i had cancelled the s.o too early and the last payment hadn't been paid. i argued this for weeks on end but in the end paid the last payment. i made over 30 phone calls to the 'arrears department' before the matter was resolved ( everytime i called i got told a different story and it was a total nightmare ) so i called and asked to be compensated for the amount of calls i had made. abbey offered me £10 towards my calls which i accepted - this letter specifically said that now the matter was resolved if i was to accept the £10 then i would not be able to make any further claims and i signed a form agreeing this.
This was in April this year
I have to day received an arrears letter from abbey claiming owe them a further £116.
I cannot put into words how angry i am at this moment in time. I believe this amount to be what was left of my old loan that the new loan should have paid off. I borrowed £2500 but my loan amount is £2616 - am i making sense?
If this is the case then AGAIN it is abbeys fault but as i said to them in the umpteen phone calls - this will be affecting my credit rating. They assured me at the time that as it was their error a note will be entered on - this i was and am still not happy about in anyway. Now, i'm even more mad as this will have been on since april shaowing as a default. Therefore, when they have had the wrath of me at 8 o clock monday morning i want to take this matter much further.
Do you think i will stand anywhere making a complaint to the ombudsman about harrassment? or making a complaint at all bearing in mind i signed that form accepting that this was the end of the matter?
thanks so much for any help!

You have a letter from Abbey that states the matter is now resolved. I'd send them a strongly worded letter (recorded delivery) along with a copy of the letter from Abbey and tell them that if they contact you again you will contact the relevant authorities and consider it an act of harassment.
I wouldn't worry, you have it in writing from them. That's the most important thing. If I have any advice (although I am in no way an expert) for anyone that has to make arrangements with a loan company is do not agree to anything until you have the whole arrangement in writing from them. If you do not have that, you have no arrangement. If there is ever a situation like this then that letter is like gold dust.0
